Blooming News…

Sunday 8th February

A bit of a wobbly start, if I’m honest.

Some seeds didn’t germinate, and the sweet peas germinated too fast and became leggy — turns out they didn’t need quite so much warmth. Lesson learned. Today we bought a cold frame for the garden so they can harden off gently while still getting some good light.

And then… my mother’s dog knocked over all the seed trays on the windowsill while trying to investigate an alarm somewhere down the street.

So yes — a slightly chaotic beginning.

But things are beginning to stir.

We now have National Trust and Sarah Raven sweet peas in beautiful whites and old-fashioned shades. The phlox are looking strong and healthy. The nicotiana are just poking their first leaves above the soil, and while the delphiniums are still beneath the surface, we’re hopeful their little heads will appear soon.

I’ve been so grateful for everyone’s encouragement and enthusiasm — it’s meant more than I can say. And a huge thank you to Caroline for her kind offer of a small stall in The Canteen once things are properly underway.

From the beginning of March, we’re hoping to open our garden stall on Sundays, 11am–3pm. We’ll also be serving freshly brewed coffee and a range of lovely teas, so do come with a friend, have a natter, and linger a while on warmer days (as long as the notorious Watledge sewage problems have been sorted by then! 🌱☕️

One last thing I want to share is others people love for their gardens and I have also released a blog sharing an interview I did with me grandma about her best friend, the author Jane Gardam’s garden. You can read that HERE

I’d love to visit your gardens and talk to you about what they bring to your life so that i can feature those too. Please email me if you’d like to be interviewed at JudeCuenco009@gmail.com
